I never thought I would be allowed back in this place. Not after all of the frenzy and media attention surrounding the ‘incident’ that happened. Either Tony’s been replaced by a robot, or he’s been doing ‘other’ fun things in his free time that would even make him consider giving me the time of day again. He could have slammed the door in my face, have the security escort me off of the premises, and forbid me from even breathing on AEW territory ever again.
I should take this sign of good faith as a positive thing.
God I hope so.[/font] ~~~***~~~ He threw the last of his ring gear in his suitcase, letting out a sigh and zipping it up, making sure it was secure before pulling it off of his bed and walking out of the bedroom. His dog, Larry, trailed shortly behind him as he made his way to the front door to grab his keys and the carrier he used to transport the dog around when he couldn’t be left with his wife.“Ok, got the carrier, got your travel bag. Ready to go make history bud?”He bent down and opened up the carrier, watching as Larry wag his tail and make his way into the carrier. Punk shut the door and locked it, then picked it up and opened the front door. His head turned to glance at his house one last time, before he smiled and exited, heading out into the world.
New adventures await.~~~***~~~ The arena was buzzing with energy and excitement; fans crammed into every seat in the place as they prepared for the start of AEW Dynamite.
Then, out of nowhere, the opening riff to ‘Cult of Personality’ started to play, sending the crowd into a wild frenzy as the cheers and shouts shook the arena to its core. Blue and red lights flickered around the top of the stage while the familiar images played on the tron. After a few seconds, a man many thought would never step foot in this company again, walked out onto the top of the entrance slowly, glancing at the crowd with a smile on his face.
CM Punk just stood there for a minute, drinking in the energy of the crowd and letting the whole moment just wash over him before he slowly started to make his way down the ramp. He greeted the fans along the way, who were just as excited to see him as he was with them. He walked the perimeter of the ringside area, greeting everyone including the color commentators who were just as surprised to see him as everyone else was.
Finally, he walked up the metal steps and stepped into the ring, leaning over to grab a microphone from the ring side crew before making his way to the middle of the ring. His theme song slowly cut out, only leaving him with the overwhelming noise of the crowd chanting his name.“Well, well, well. Hell must’ve froze over again, because CM Punk has returned to the landscape of A…E…W!”A smile spread over his face as the cheers erupted from the crowd along with chants of ‘CM Punk’ over and over again. He let this go on for a while, continuing to soak in the moment before lifting the mic to his mouth and continuing on with what he was saying.“It feels damn good to be here, standing in this ring in front of all of you again. It really does. You know, to be frankly honest with everyone, if I can be for a second I didn’t expect this to be a thing, ever, after everything that’s happened but then again…stranger things have happened lately.”He paused, a somber look crossing his face, taking a glance around at the crowd as they continued to cheer, waiting until it died down before continuing on.“Now I could offer some sort of apology for what’s happened in the past, a way to make amends for the things that happened but if I did there are people out there who wouldn’t give a flying you know what to hear it. Even if I was as sincere as hell, it wouldn’t matter. They wouldn’t care and that’s fine. What I care about right now is the fact that I’m back doing what I love in front of all of you that never gave up on me! So for that, thank you!”The crowd cheered louder again as he slowly began to pace back and forth, running a hand over his hair.“With the pleasantries out of the way, we can get down to business. The nitty gritty of why I’m here again, and what my plans are. That’s what everyone wants to know right? What do I plan to do here with my time. It should be blatantly obvious to anyone who knows me. I’m here to do what I do best in this ring, and become AEW World Heavyweight Champion!
It’s not about the money, it’s about becoming better and getting to the top of the mountain.”He chuckles softly, looking around, before staring back at the hard camera again.“In order to do that, I have to face someone I’m…very familiar with. Someone whom I’ve shared the ring with on more occasions than I can count on one hand alone. That man…is Chris Jericho.”A mixture of cheers and boos ripples through the audience. CM Punk smirks at this.”How long has it been since we last stood in this ring across from one another? A minute? 10 years? Feels like a lifetime ago that we stared another down, ready to tear each other apart. Now here we are again, falling back into the same pattern Jericho. Or is it Y2J, the Wizard, the Learning Tree, Painmaker?
You go through more identities than I go through clothes. That’s sayin something.
Look, I don’t want to take up more of this precious airtime but listen to me Jericho when I say…I’m back and I’m picking up where I left off.”’Cult of Personality’ hits, and CM Punk drops his mic, a serious look on his face as he climbs out of the ring.
